Hebrew Language and Education Consultant
With 25 years of teaching experience, Vered has taught students of all ages. She has taught for Melton adult education, Congregation Beth Israel, Lone Star College and has served as Assistant Director at the Miriam Browning Jewish Learning Center. Vered is a consultant for the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston and has led over 40 workshops. Her passion for inspiring her students in the classroom earned her two prestigious awards: Irving L. Samuels Outstanding Teacher Award for Judaic Studies and Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. She currently teaches Hebrew for Middle School students at Emery Weiner and is preparing EWS High School students for the Jerusalem Exam. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and most of all spending time with her family.
Mrs. Avital Goetz
First Grade Teacher
Originally from Atlanta, GA, has a passion, creativity, and love of learning and teaching. She graduated from Me’ohr Teachers Seminary in Israel and completed her Bachelors from Charter Oak State College. She went on to earn her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Scranton while simultaneously teaching in Far Rockaway, NY. In 2012, Mrs. Goetz moved to Baltimore, MD where she taught kindergarten and then pre-kindergarten in the Bnot Yisrael preschool. Mrs. Goetz and her family moved to Houston in 2015 where she has been teaching pre-kindergarten at YTE. She is very excited to work in the CBR Sunday School for the upcoming school year.
Rabbi A.Y. Cohen
Judaics Teacher Bar /Bat Mitzva
Rabbi A.Y. was born and raised in Highland Park, NJ. After completing Ner Le'elef Institute in Israel, Rabbi Cohen and his family moved to Jacksonville, FL where he served as the Youth Director and NCSY City Director. Rabbi Cohen brings with him a decade of experience at Camp Nageela Midwest as a counselor, a senior staff member, and as the Judaics Director. He enjoys connecting with people and has a passion for Jewish education. Rabbi Cohen, is looking forward to teaching at CBR Hebew School
Ron is a 1st year medical student at the Baylor College of Medicine. He was born in Be’er Sheva, Israel and moved to Houston with his family at the age of 5. He is fluent in Hebrew and proficient in Spanish and has tutored and taught in courses ranging from Hebrew to the sciences in age groups encompassing elementary through the college level. He has 7 years experience teaching religious/Hebrew school and is excited to get to know this year’s inaugural classes. In his free time Ron enjoys playing basketball and reading, and he loves being outdoors whenever he can (even in this Houston heat!)
